發行首張個人專輯後過了四年，Karen Marie Ørsted帶著她的新專輯'Forever Neverland'回歸。成名得太快，由於MØ的流行聲線優勢，與Major Lazer合作的"Lean On"已經成為歷史上賣得最好的單曲之一。並沒有將這一億三千多萬銷量看在眼裏，來自丹麥的歌手茉兒反而不疾不徐進行第二張專輯的製作，在期間與小賈斯汀、酷娃恰莉以及Snakehips等人合作，終於新作品在她第二張迷你專輯'When I Was Young'後發行。
在日盤加贈三曲"Final Song"、"Kamikaze"以及"Nights With You"後，進行'Forever Neverland'的製作人多達20多位，在第一張專輯'No Mythologies to Follow'就曾經合作過的Diplo當然也名列其中，今年才為啤酒品牌TUBORG攜手製作單曲"Stay Open"的兩人，"Sun in Our Eyes"與為碧昂絲製作"All Night"的King Henry共同譜曲，歌詞當中帶有的消極、灰暗對比歌名，茉兒唱著：「我們的眼底閃爍著日光。」
"If It's Over"經由挪威籍的寫作團體Stargate畫龍點睛，搭上附有玩味Charli XCX的後製嗓音，autotune混合電子節拍，加上Hudson Mohawke的聯合製作，呈現出女孩般的不在乎，茉兒只想在成名之後，掌控將來她想要的生活。在接連幾首單曲的成功，她在歌詞裏寫道：「我只想過好自己偶爾使點壞。」
優雅而心碎的情歌，不同於之前發行的"Final Song"，去掉那些繁雜的派對舞曲風格，"Mercy"是新專輯當中的必聽歌曲，由鋼琴開場到之後的電子製作，本名Karen的茉兒帶著赤裸且充滿情感的喉音，在高音處的迴盪，說著：「寶貝，我已跪求你在愛情裏對我仁慈。」
R&B曲調充斥在這14首新曲的專輯中，製作'Forever Neverland'裏大部分單曲的ST!NT的確選擇了最適合她的方式進行後期；從心底唱出的心聲，"Trying to Be Good"描述了MØ不甘於現況只想逃離的心境，不想改變自己只為了擠進好萊塢的生態圈，高低音起伏驟變且充滿力量的詮釋方法，也因為此曲使得這整張專輯變得比以往更個人、私密。
反骨如她，在搬離洛杉磯到夢想中的加利福尼亞，一切就像美夢成真，就如同拉娜德芮收錄在'Born To Die'的"Radio"般，粉紅氛圍在夏日當中讓臉頰泛紅到甚至泛紫，"Purple Like the Summer Rain"就在這迷幻且幻想的顏色中合奏。形容性感及肉體歡愉的舞曲，"Imaginary Friend"在性幻想的思想裏達到高潮，甚至成人不宜， Illangelo於結尾放置的弦樂更是一絕的句點。

Four years after her debut studio album, Karen
Marie Ørsted is back bringing her new work ‘Forever Neverland’. Fame is fast,
with MØ’s pop ascendance, “Lean on” featuring Major Lazer has become one of the
best-selling singles of all time, with 13.1 million sales worldwide. The Danish
singer was no pressure to make another album following her reputation, she
collaborates with Justin Bieber, Charli XCX(which also appears in ‘Forever
Neverland’),and Snakehips. Comes after her second EP ‘When I Was Young’, with
persuasion, you can hear the youth in her music.
Over 20 producers working on this album,
Diplo is also on the list, earlier this year, the duo just released their collaboration
“Stay Open” for the beer brand TUBORG, “Sun in Our Eyes” was written with King
Henry who co-produced Beyoncé’s “All Night”, lyrics is dark but in the contrast
“With the sun in our eyes.” She sings.
Produced by Norwegian songwriting team, “If
It’s Over” featuring Charli XCX, playful sounds from the “Boom Clap” singer,
auto-tune mix up with electronic beats, Hudson Mohawke is on the co-produce
part, MØ just wants her life back, needed to take a rest after the success of singles
she was in, “I'm just living for me but a little more vicious.” Ørsted writes.
A beautiful and heart-breaking ballad, different
from “Final Song”, it is stripped down all the dance-pop themed, “Mercy” is one
of the must-listening track on this album, from piano to electronica, she sings
“I was blind, baby please, I need Mercy, I'm down on my knees.” Karen’s raw voice
with emotional high notes gives us chills.
R&B flows between these 14 new tracks,
producer on the most songs of ‘Forever Neverland’, ST!NT does a great job, “Trying
to Be Good” is from the bottom of MØ’s heart, she doesn’t want to change to fit
in rules by Hollywood, soar and powerful voice when she sings it out loud, it gets
more personal and private in this album.
Rebel as she is, like Lana Del Rey’s “Radio”,
finally the dream comes true, describing living in California, she is happier
after leaving LA. “Purple Like the Summer Rain” was harmonized in this fantasy
color. Sensual and sexual dance-pop, singing the line “Let my body, body, body
be your breath.”, “Imaginary Friend” is a single for grown-ups, on the production,
Illangelo puts a perfect ending on strings.
Swaying and crying when you put this record
on, ‘Forever Neverland’ is a multi- dimension art exploring love, relationship,
and herself. In the beginning of this Fall, MØ leaves a good farewell to the Summer
and Hollywood.
